When To Recite According to the Hadith the Prophet Muhammad saws used to recite this supplication in the morning when first waking up and in the evening. Grade Sahih Al-Albani In-book reference Book 43, Hadith 302 Breakdown of Meaning Of This Dua ALLAHUMMA INNI AS’ ALUKA AL’AFIYAHMeaning “O Allah, I ask you for Afiyah.” Afiyah is an all encompassing word referring to overall well-being. This can include health, wealth, and safety from anything that may be deemed as harmful. To be saved from any afflictions, you are in Afiyah. To be healthy, you are in Afiyah. To have enough money, you are in Afiyah. To live, you are in Afiyah. To have your children protected, you are in Afiyah. And if you are forgiven and not punished, you are in Afiyah. The Dua continues “wal-afiyah fid-dunya wal-akhirah” Wal-afiyah to be well in this Dunya referring to this worldly life and the akhirah meaning the afterlife. As you can see this Dua is a very powerful dua. It’s asking Allah not only for success in this world but the afterlife as well which is the real indicator of success. The allahumma inni as’aluka dua is very short and we would do well if we memorize it and recite it every so often.
